Nadia is a native Spanish speaker born in Lima, Perú. Her career in education and second language acquisition began at Kutztown University were she earned a BA in Education: Spanish PK-12. After being in the field, she continued her studies at Temple University, where she mastered in Spanish Literature and Linguistics. Her love for teaching and researching language acquisition inspired her to reach learners PK-16 including adult professionals. Along with her husband and two children ages 3 and 6, she enjoys traveling to visit family in Perú and Greece. She enjoys dancing salsa, cooking and listening to music. Language Project LLC and the Spanish Immersion Learning Center are a direct result of her passion for teaching language and her love for the Lehigh Valley community.

Nadia Thalassinos
Founder/Director

Núria was born and lived most of her life in Barcelona, Spain. She attended the University of Barcelona and earned Master's degree in Theoretical Physics and a Teaching Competence Certificate in Education. Since relocating to Pennsylvania in 2011, her career has focused on education through her work as a nutrition specialist at public schools in the Lehigh Valley, translating and interpreting at Lehigh University, and most recently teaching the immersion program at Moravian Academy. Nuria and her husband have two boys ages 9 and 5. As a family, they love to go hiking and travel the world. Her hobbies include tennis and running. Núria joins our Center as an experienced Spanish immersion teacher and lead of our On-site Immersion Programming.

On-site Program Coordinator

Thalia is a native Spanish speaker from Pampatar, Venezuela. She graduated with an a Bachelor degree in Accounting while living in Venezuela. She worked as a preschool teacher at Garabatos Preschool, and she enjoyed integrating math in her daily lessons. Thalia's experiences include the implementation of a project based curriculum and the integration of math, reading, and writing throughout the program. She has cared for children ranging from newborn to school-age. She prides herself in the planing of a fun and engaging curriculum for PreK students. Prior to joining our team, Thalia worked as a caretaker for the elderly. In her spare time, she loves to draw and engage in art therapy. Thalia brings kindness and love to our Center as she joins our immersion team.

Preschool Immersion Teacher

 
Tamara is a native Spanish speaker from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She attended Northampton Community College and earned a Child Development Associate certification in Early Childhood Education. Tamara has over 8 years of experience in the education field and has worked with children of all ages and a variety of needs. She loves to care for infants and toddlers and enjoys watching them learn through guided play. She is passionate about early literacy and shares her love for reading with young toddlers. Tamara and her husband enjoy sports and going to church with their six children. Tamara brings experience and love for second language acquisition to our toddler classroom.

Tamara Zavala
Toddler Immersion Teacher

Illyan is a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Mexico City. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology through the  Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México . Her experience in the educational and clinical psychology field make her an amazing part of our immersion team. Through the cognitive-behavioral lens, Illyan loves to develop projects that address emotional intelligence. Her background in art therapy positively influences her philosophy of education and instructional methods. Her hobbies are listening to music and taking pictures of nature. Illyan brings a sense of serenity to our Center and takes great care of the emotional well-being of each student.

She holds a degree in Child Psychology through the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas and has completed postgraduate studies at the Fritz Perls Center for Investigation in Monterrey Nuevo León. Her experience with early childhood psychology has a foundational role in her work with preschool education. Through holistic workshops, she currently engages preschool and elementary school children in programming that stimulates cognitive skills and develops emotional intelligence. Her passion for working with children reflects her belief that education and a healthy childhood guarantees the future of the world we live in. Ana enjoys hiking, gardening, and yoga. We are looking forward to her experience as an intern at the Spanish Immersion Learning Center as she moves through the onboarding teacher candidate process.

Molly was born in the US and lived in Argentina as a child. She attended Cedar Crest College and majored in English and Secondary Education with a minor in Spanish. Molly is a high school Spanish teacher and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She joins the Spanish Immersion Learning Center as our Digital Store Manager working with content developers to provide the best immersion resources for schools and families looking to support Spanish language learning. Molly is passionate about teaching in the target language and combining technology with language education. When she is not teaching, she loves hiking with her husband and dog, traveling the world, and drinking mate.

Diana is a Graphic Designer currently residing in Mexico. She has a degree in Graphic Design from La Salle Victoria University in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Her areas of expertise include photography and digital design (advertising, identity, and web). She loves working with young children and has a particular talent for photographing their learning experiences. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting accessories made from natural materials. Beyond her work with children, her passion for culture, travel, and photography have also captured the beauty of Mexico through images of folk dance groups. She is a lifelong learner and is always looking for ways to share her love for the arts. We are delighted to host Diana as our intern and look forward to experiencing her love for the arts here at the Spanish Immersion Learning Center.
